Have a Bit of Faith

Have a bit of Faith
On the topic of who am I, I’d like to share with you that if there is one thing I’ve gained over the years is this amazing sense of Faith.  I have come to believe that yes, we are a product of our choices and we either reap the benefits of good decisions or pay the consequences of bad ones but in the end, things generally untangle themselves out of the webs we weave.

Don’t take this as permission to sit back and wait for the fix.  We absolutely must take action to make our lives or situations better but with faith, we can mobilize.  Fear can be debilitating.   Having Faith is a great place to start in any rut.  It gives you courage and confidence and is the best first step in healing and rebuilding.

How?

Have Faith in yourself.  Believe in your own ability to get past the situation, to solve the problem, to not only survive but thrive.

Have Faith that things are meant to be.  Getting through tough stuff makes us stronger.  We learn life lessons.  We become more experienced and we appreciate the good times that much more.

Have Faith in others.  Believe that those around you are your companions in life with a purpose.  If they’ve left your life for one reason or another, its because their role in your life is complete (even if you don’t think so).  Cherish the time you spent together and let them go.

Faith can simply be know that everything is going to be ok; Believe in yourself!

Who Am I? and Who are You?

I'd love to  hear back about how YOU define YOU.  Here's who I am:

I’m a 42 year old mother, a life-partner, a step-mom, a manager.  But really, who am I?

This question is one that I always felt was important to answer. The roles I play help define me and how I play out those roles also calibrates me.  What else is there to guage who we are?

Another thing to add is who do I want to be?  Who do I strive to be?  That is what this blog is meant to bring you, my readers.

Mother – 3 children (tweens and teen)
Step-mother – 2 children (yes, all 5 live with me)
Girlfriend/Life Partner – (isn’t that a cute title?  UGH!)
Manager – I have 12 direct reports in a large corporate environment
Runner – I run regularly 3 times a week

Who do I strive to be?  Well I guess I just want to be the best I can be at those roles above.  Truly that is what I work on.

I strive to be:

A GREAT Mother – one who is nurturing, loving but firm and teaching and leading
A GREAT Step-mom – ominously present when needed and conveniently unimportant when not needed? Haven’t figured this one out and I probably never will.
A GREAT Girlfriend – Fun-loving, supportive, organized and creative and patient (as if I could ever achieve patience)
Manager – I want to be a great leader – One who is supportive and inspirational and yet still achieves goals and metrics

I strive for other things to enhance my life – I want to be a pro at yoga, I want to be lighter and fit.  I need to lose about 25-30 pounds.

In this quest for greatness, I have learned many life lessons, leadership lessons and parenting lessons.  Visit me again, and I’ll share my learnings with you and hopefully receive more lessons learned from you.

How do you define who you are?  Is anyone really clear and maybe I'm just making this more complicated than it needs to be?

Welcome! Looking forward to taking a journey with you.

Welcome to the Striving Career Mom blog.  My intention is to be a companion and perhaps even a source of information/inspiration to other women who are pulled in many directions and often find themselves balancing their wishes and dreams with their obligations.  I hope that my writing inspires other women who want to be the best they can be…mother, manager, leader, wife, step mom, runner, and yogi – whoever you are and whoever you’re trying to be, let’s be there and get there together.
